About looksmaxxing.guide

An independent research desk for men's self-improvement. We cover what works, what's hype, and what the evidence actually says — without the hard-sell, the cope, or the medical fearmongering.

What this site is

Looksmaxxing started as an online subculture and has since gone mainstream. There's a lot of useful information out there, mixed with a lot of dangerous nonsense. We sift through it.

Every guide on this site is written to do one thing: tell you what's actually known, where the evidence ends, and what to do about it. We link to primary sources where they exist. When something is anecdotal or community-developed, we say so.

What this site is not

  • Not medical advice. We discuss procedures, prescriptions, and protocols, but a guide can't replace a board-certified surgeon, dermatologist, or doctor. See our Medical Disclaimer for the full version.
  • Not a clinic. We don't sell procedures, supplements, or coaching. We don't take affiliate revenue from clinics or product brands.
  • Not a forum. No user accounts, no threads, no DMs. If you want a community, the subreddits and Discord servers exist.

How we research

Our process for every article:

  1. Start from the question. What is someone actually trying to figure out? "Does mewing work?" "Is finasteride safe?" "What does a hair transplant in Turkey actually cost?"
  2. Find the evidence. Peer-reviewed studies first, professional guidelines second, market data third, community-reported outcomes fourth — clearly labeled.
  3. Distinguish the layers. What's biologically established? What's a clinical practice? What's anecdotal? Conflating these is the single biggest sin in this space.
  4. Write it plainly. No hedge-everything corporate copy. Punchy, direct, with the citations attached.

Editorial policies

The full version lives on our Editorial Standards page, but the short list:

  • Every medical claim links to a source or is flagged as community-reported.
  • Every article that touches procedures, prescriptions, or surgery carries a medical disclaimer.
  • We name names — both creators worth following and creators we think are full of it. Influencer pages are journalistic coverage, not endorsements.
  • We update or correct content when the evidence changes. Each article shows when it was last reviewed.

Who runs this

looksmaxxing.guide is operated by a small editorial team independent of any clinic, product brand, or training program. We aren't doctors. We do read the literature carefully and we're transparent about where claims come from.

If you find a factual error, an outdated source, or a claim we got wrong, we want to know. Reach out via the Terms contact details and we'll review and correct.

Contact & corrections

For corrections, source updates, or research tips, the fastest path is via the email listed in our Terms. We read every message and update articles within a few days when warranted.
